Dr Tim Wells

Dr. Timothy Wells has been the Chief Scientific Officer of Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) since 2007, building and managing a portfolio of new medicines, from discovery through to post-approval studies.  In collaboration with a wide network of partners, MMV has launched 11 products over this period, which are used to treat millions of children annually, and have contributed to saving the lives of almost 3 million children.  Under his leadership, MMV has built strengths in combination sciences and experimental medicine to help identify the best new combination therapies to move into pivotal trials.  

He had over 20 years of experience in drug discovery and development prior to joining MMV. He is a non-executive director at Kymab, with a personal interest in applying antibody technology in infectious disease.   

Dr. Wells received his PhD in Chemistry in 1987 from Imperial College, London; and his ScD in Biology in 2009, from Cambridge University UK. He is a fellow of the UK’s Royal Society of Chemistry and Academy of Medical Sciences.
